Undeterred by US President Trump initiatives to rock the world trade, China has not slowed down its debt-driven globalization.
Chinese companies’ strong appetite for foreign currency debt has reached a new high with Export-Import Bank of China unveiling its $30 billion debt raising plan. This closely follows another Chinese public sector bank's move to mop up $ 20 bilion debt in tranches.
China Eximbank has sounded investors with its plan to mobilize up to $27 billion by issuing medium term notes (MTNs) in installments this year. This is in addition to $ 3bn short-term debt being raised through issue of commercial paper.
On 23 November 2016, China Eximbank had issued euro-denominated bonds totaling EUR 2 billion in the offshore market. This constituted the largest single issuance ever of euro-denominated bonds by a Chinese mainland entity in the international market.
Cattle gets sexing touch under Transforming India

Modi Government might like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to be twisted as Beti Bachao Beti Badhao aur Sadakchhap Romeo Hatao in the cattle kingdom.
The rationale for this bullishness is big rush among livestock entities for import of technology that would empower cows & buffalo to give birth to female calves only. Male calves can also be given birth with the same technique if need be.
At least half a dozen entities have already invited global expression of interest (EOI) for establishing laboratories for producing Sex sorted semen doses of indigenous cattle & buffalo at their respective locations.
Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (DAHDF) expects adoption of this technique to increase in value of output of milk by Rs.9000 Cr. over the medium term, reduce the number of stray bulls on streets and take forward the sacred cow protection agenda. The Department is aiming at addition of 6 million improved females/heifers annually to national milch herd.
Sex sorted semen technology (SSST) is yet another game-changing idea conceived by UPA and scaled up for delivery by NDA. Mooted as domestic R&D proposal in National Livestock unveiled by UPA Government in April 2013, SSST is a major component of both Transforming India initiative (TII) & ‘doubling farmers’ income in five years’ initiative.

ASL revives its coal-based green fuels-cum-chemicals project with Rs 1 lakh crore tag
‘Thinking Big Doing Better’. Adani Group is living up to its new motto that dazzles on the latest annual reports of its major companies.
Take the case of Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL). AEL’s 100%-owned subsidiary, Adani Synenergy Limited (ASL), has scaled up exponentially its three-year old proposal (https://goo.gl/vqPdg2) to produce green fuels & petrochemicals from coal. It would import coal from Adani group’s mines in Australia.
It has doubled CTP’s products portfolio to 10 products with a huge ramp-up in manufacturing capacity.
ASL has accordingly hiked cost of its coal to polygeneration (CTP) project from Rs 24,000 crore in August 2014 to Rs 1 lakh crore. Incidentally, the cost of Modiji’s bullet train project is Rs 1.08 lakh crore.

Modi Government’s idea of ‘solar empowerment of farmers’ is expected to be rolled out with clipped wings – massive cut in projected funding and uncertainty over some operational issues.
The Government has marketed the proposed as a major means to doubling farmers’ income by 2022 & for promoting sustainable, cost-competitive farming.
Named Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (KUSUM), the proposed centrally sponsored scheme was recently subjected to intense scrutiny at an inter-ministerial standing committee.
The Committee advised Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to restructure KUSUM keeping in view funds crunch. The Committee also directed the Ministry to address host of issues especially arranging matching contribution of funds by the States.
